SPRING IN WASHINGTON, D.C. - Avant Gardist

SPRING IN WASHINGTON, D.C.

Hello from Washington, D.C.! I’ve been traveling the East Coast of the United States this spring and I made sure to view the beautiful cherry blossoms, which were a gift from Japan in the early 1900s. Speaking of Japan, I had the opportunity to visit the Japanese artist, Yayoi Kusama’s exhibit at the Hirshhorn Museum. Her iconic art created from her hallucinations are a wonder to see. “In 1966, Kusama began to incorporate colorful eclectic lights into her sculptural installations with the creation of Kusama’s Peep Show, the first of her psychedelic artworks.” The highlight of the show was definitely the Infinity Mirrored Room, which was mind blowing. It brought together lanterns, changing light shows, immersive experiences and mirrors which reminded me of a dark summer night. It was wonderful walking through the pathway with my friend Halima, @HamilamTV, a fashion enthusiast and influencer in D.C. The exhibit will be running until November.
