Each year, the Fashion Department of The Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp presents the students' work. This prestigious institution is renowned not only for its illustrious history but also for its educational system that balances artistic creativity with practical training. We identified two designers, Pommie Dierick and Floran Polano, who we believe will soon shape the future of fashion.
Pommie Dierick showcased a collection named ‘WILD HORSES RUN FREE,’ symbolizing mental freedom. The designer emphasizes the necessity of breaking social restraints that often block our freedom and will for self-expression. While conceptual work is common during studies, these designs stand out for their emphasis on volume and stunning silhouettes. "My collection embraces the determined spirit of femininity and strength. Drawing inspiration from the raw, untamed rock 'n' roll energy of icons Grace Jones and Betty Davis, it is a tribute to challenging societal norms and expectations and creating your own path with audacity and grace," says Dierick.

On the other hand, Floran Polano's collection ‘Remember the Blue Hour’ is deeply personal, created from the sentiments and memories of his first love. Inspired by Han Kang’s ‘The White Book’ and Constantin Brâncuși's sculptures, this collection reflects the solitary nature of the creative process, profoundly impacting the designer on both an emotional and intellectual level. The collection features sculptural geometric forms, subtle color palettes, and abstract prints.
Both designers are impressive in their creative expression, and we look forward to seeing more from them.
