NEW YORK is always a good idea!

NEW YORK is always a good idea!

New York, recognized as one of the world's fashion capitals, stands out for its vibrant street style, fashion week, and dynamic atmosphere. The city's fashion scene reflects its diverse population, embracing inclusivity and celebrating designers from various backgrounds. Models of different ethnicities, sizes, and genders grace the runways, exemplifying the industry's commitment to inclusiveness. The energetic street style culture, fueled by the city's fashion-forward residents, showcases a powerful mix of individuality, eclecticism, and innovative fashion choices, often serving as a wellspring of inspiration for designers.

New York City also has a reputation for its casual streetwear and sportswear styles, where functionality holds equal importance to style. Tech-infused and easy-to-wear sportswear pieces that can be mixed and matched are particularly popular among New Yorkers. Even renowned fashion brands like Ralph Lauren, Donna Karan, and Calvin Klein are known for their functional designs. In the 1990s, Calvin Klein made a bold move by introducing unisex and underwear garments, pushing the industry towards a more gender-fluid approach with impeccably designed, effortlessly wearable clothing.

A visit to New York wouldn't be complete without exploring iconic institutions like the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and browsing through the city's cool and inspiring shops. The experience itself is remarkable, offering a glimpse into the ever-evolving fashion landscape. Discovering emerging independent designers is also a priority for fashion enthusiasts, and even in inclement weather, engaging in these activities remains a fun and rewarding pursuit.

Following their initial success in London, the members of the Antwerp Six continued to work individually and started their own labels. Over time, they became synonymous with the European version of Japanese deconstruction. While Dries Van Noten and Ann Demeulemeester went on to achieve global success, Dirk Van Saene, Dirk Bikkembergs, and Marina Yee continue to work on their labels on a smaller scale concerning sustainable production.
