DZHUS SS25 Collection: ANTICON Unveiled at Berlin Fashion Week

Irina Dzhus recently showcased her SS25 collection, titled ANTICON, at Berlin Fashion Week. This collection is a profound exploration of her personal trauma as a Ukrainian refugee amid the ongoing war in her homeland. Through ANTICON, Irina delves into narratives of sociocultural conformism, reflecting on her experience of displacement and the search for a semblance of peace in a world turned upside down.

Irina's creative process is deeply intertwined with her complex emotions and the existential questions arising from creating art in the shadow of conflict. Despite the grim backdrop, her work demonstrates the resilience of the human spirit and the power of creative expression in coping with adversity. Irina's personal struggles and the challenging circumstances she faces have become a catalyst for producing remarkable art.

The ANTICON collection is characterized by its predominantly off-white color palette, symbolizing light as the path forward. The collection's presentation was conceptualized as a ritual table setting, with repetitive patterns alluding to the phenomenon of autophagia. Irina draws inspiration from Gnosticism, Kabbalah, Judaism, and various Christian teachings, both official and alternative, acknowledging the weight of personal values and duties.

Stoicism and self-sufficiency are key themes in the collection, articulated through the 'object=subject' statement embodied in multifunctional clothing items. Irina's performative approach to fashion is evident in her innovative, versatile designs, which she showcases in multiple ways. This playfulness extends beyond the runway, inviting clients to continue the act of discovery in their daily lives.

In ANTICON, Irina Dzhus masterfully merges personal drama with demanding life situations, demonstrating how such experiences can trigger outstanding artistic creations. Her work not only highlights the strength of the human spirit but also offers a poignant commentary on the resilience and adaptability required in the face of adversity.
